Rockingham ICE Release Scope
The ICE Online Detainee Locator System, often called ODLS, covers current ICE detention and some people recently released from ICE custody. It is a federal civil immigration tool. It is not a Rockingham County jail roster, a criminal court docket, or a full historical archive. Research found no official evidence of a dedicated ICE detention facility, current county ICE detention contract, or current 287(g) agreement in Rockingham County.
Local relevance comes from a person-specific detainer or transfer. The county jail may end its custody because ICE assumes control. That event must be described as a transfer. ICE may later release the person with reporting obligations or while immigration proceedings continue. Those are separate events with separate dates and records.
Search Rockingham ICE Release Records
The ICE Online Detainee Locator offers two search routes. The preferred route uses the nine-digit A-number and country of birth. Add leading zeroes when the A-number has fewer digits. The biographical route requires exact first and last names plus country of birth, with date of birth available to narrow the search. Spelling, spacing, and hyphens can affect a match.
ODLS excludes people under 18 and can omit some adults for safety, security, agency-discretion, or processing reasons. No result is inconclusive. Retry the exact recorded name and A-number, then use ICE's information line or the relevant Enforcement and Removal Operations office. Record the inputs and access date because a recent-release entry can later leave the public window.
- Obtain the A-number and country of birth from a reliable record when possible.
- Search the exact number, adding leading zeroes to reach nine digits.
- If needed, use exact biographical fields and try documented spelling variants.
- Read the detention location or recent status without adding an unsupported release reason.
- Call ICE when a known custody event does not appear.
The official ODLS source shows the federal search entry point.

The interface documents the search route, while the county record is still needed to establish a Rockingham handoff.
Rockingham ICE Release Window
ICE states that ODLS contains current detainees and people released from ICE custody within the last 60 days, subject to omissions and processing delay. That creates a short bridge after an ICE release. It does not create a permanent release list. An older absence cannot establish that detention never happened, and a recent absence cannot establish community release.
The official retention explanation is especially important for Rockingham cases because there is no local ICE facility page to search. Preserve the result and access date for a lawful personal, notification, or court-related need. If the event is known but the locator is empty, contact the ICE Detention Reporting and Information Line at 1-888-351-4024.
The ICE attorney information and resources page supplies the released-record window and missing-result cautions.

The source confirms why ODLS is a recent-status tool rather than a historical Rockingham release archive.
Note: Search age-out and processing delay make an empty ODLS result a reason to call, not proof of release or no custody.
Rockingham ICE Detainer Transfers
An ICE detainer asks a law-enforcement agency to notify ICE before ordinary release and to maintain custody for up to 48 hours beyond that point so the Department of Homeland Security may assume control. It is a request. The detainer does not prove that ICE arrived, accepted custody, or moved the person to an immigration facility.
Three outcomes must remain separate. The county can release a person after ICE does not assume custody. The county can transfer the person to ICE, ending local custody while federal detention continues. ICE can later release the person subject to reporting or immigration proceedings. The best evidence for the middle event is the county release destination paired with a timely ODLS or ERO confirmation.
| Record or event | What it proves | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| ICE detainer | Notice and brief-hold request | That ICE took custody |
| County “released to ICE” entry | County transfer destination | Later ICE release |
| ODLS detention match | Displayed ICE location/status | Final case outcome |
| ODLS recent-release result | Departure from ICE custody | End of immigration proceedings |
The official detainer explanation documents the notice request and time limit.

The image reinforces why a detainer notation must not be reported as a completed ICE transfer.
After a Rockingham ICE Release
ICE release can carry check-in or address-update duties while an immigration case remains open. A check-in is not detention and is not an immigration-court hearing. The public locator also is not a tool for managing another person's private compliance steps. It provides current or recent custody information within its stated limits.
The official ICE check-in guide draws that line clearly.

The captured source distinguishes post-release reporting from continued detention and from court hearings.
- Detainer
- A request for notice and limited continued local custody so ICE may assume control.
- ICE transfer
- A confirmed handoff from the county or another custodian to immigration authorities.
- ICE release
- Departure from immigration detention, which may carry reporting duties.
- Check-in
- A post-release reporting event, not present detention.
Rockingham ICE Custody Record Trail
Start with the Rockingham County booking and release sheet. Ask for the release timestamp, disposition or code, and receiving agency. A mere “ICE hold” notation requires follow-up. A specific “released to ICE” or transport destination is stronger proof that local custody ended by transfer. Pair it with ODLS as close to the event as possible.
If the person was never at the county jail, identify the actual holding facility through the federal or court trail. ICE and USMS person-specific files may be restricted, which makes the locator, court docket, and holding-facility record the faster public route. Do not infer a county ICE contract from one person's detainer or transfer.
For a named Rockingham booking, Sheriff Records can provide public release fields. For immigration detention status, ICE is the custodian. For immigration-court filings, use the proper court channel rather than treating ODLS as a case docket.
The county request should identify the full legal name, birth date, approximate booking date, and booking number if known. Ask for the admission and release timestamps, release disposition, authority, and receiving agency. If the record only says that ICE was notified, it does not establish transfer. If it names ICE as the receiving custodian, record that local event and then verify the federal segment separately.
ODLS fields answer a more limited question: whether ICE displays current detention or a recent release match. They do not explain the county charge, bond decision, or immigration-court result. Keep the county booking, ODLS access, and any later ICE release on separate dated lines.
Rockingham ICE Release Contact
Call the county detention center first when the person began in local custody. Ask whether ICE was merely notified or actually became the receiving agency. Then use ODLS and the federal information line. No local ICE facility address is listed because the research did not identify one in Rockingham County.

Ask each custodian one precise question. The county answers how local custody ended. ICE answers current immigration detention or the recent federal release status.
When the locator does not return a known person, have the exact A-number, country of birth, name spelling, and relevant dates ready for the call. ICE may not display a person because of processing, age, safety, security, or discretion rules. An older released record may also have aged out of the public window. Explain the documented custody event without treating the missing web result as a contradiction.
If ICE never assumed custody, the county's ordinary release record and court case remain the correct sources. If ICE did assume custody, do not stop at the county transfer timestamp. A later federal detention or release event must be confirmed on its own terms.
Keep the A-number private when sharing a routine update beyond the people who need it. For a public record of the Rockingham event, the county booking number and receiving-agency field are usually the cleaner local identifiers. The ODLS check then answers the limited federal status question without turning a recent result into a permanent case history.
